It was plain Genocide and Ethnic Cleansing. We had many British Unionists still left in Ireland after the War of Independence, and the Truth of this horror was kept out of the School Curriculum History, as to not offend these People.

Isolationism and neutrality do not work. When the free world takes two steps backwards, the dictatorships take four steps forwards. Isolationism means stepping back from allies who then turn their backs on you when you are eventually in trouble anyway. Isolationism is like a tightrope walker throwing away his safety net. Just watched the Paddy Hill interview on Hardtalk prior to Gerry Conlon's speech. They are both correct about British Justice. Just look at the recent case of the sub postmaster's (an injustice which in no way compares to the suffering these two guys endured) which again shows without people power innocent people suffer.

Bravo! An interesting insight into the man I recently saw in a video, on his way to beseech the King of England to free Julian Assange.

Gerry's story is so powerful. I remember very well watching him walk out the front door of the Old Bailey the day he was exonerated and the pictures will stay with me forever. It was a lot more than a miscarriage of justice. As we know his dad died in Jail, and he lost 15 years of his life. I can't imagine what it must be like to be innocent and jailed for such a long long time. The movie "in the name of the father" is one of the greatest true story movies ever made. Even after all this time the movie still gets me at the end and that's a powerful powerful movie. Great speech from Gerry here. R.I.P

I'm an American of Irish ancestry. My Irish ancestor, Patrick McDermott came over to America alone at 14 years old a few years before the famine. And yet, I've had this intense grief and have been crying a lot watching this and learning about this famine. It seems strange but I think it's because the Irish people of that time are my people too. In 2023, I'm an American, but 1847, the Irish people were my people. And I'm coming to terms with the horror of what happened to them.

The Daniel Day Lewis film In the name of the father is absolutely brilliant,and tells the true story of what happened. The best scene is at the end when he is found not guilty he says proudly "" I am a free man ,and I am walking out the front door."" . Amazing.🙏

I was a 19-year-old Irish man working in Bank of Ireland in Queen Street in 1991. I went out to get a sandwich for lunch and just happened to be passing the Old Bailey as the Birmingham 6 were being released. There were loads of people waving Irish flags but I had no clue what was going on until I got home and saw it on the evening news! A great day for the parish ;-)

Do people not realise that this is happening again in front of their eyes only this time it’s worldwide? Think of climate and covid farces in which they demonise food production and are taxing people out of existence all perpetrated by a few of the worlds richest people, learn from history and put a stop to this now by not being so gullible.
